Last night on Revenge we got the answer to the season long question: Who shot Emily Thorne? But was it who we expected and did everything goes as planned? Let’s dig in.
The episode started with Conrad finding a book where Lydia was keeping all of her notes and evidence that she was planning to use against him. First off, this was such a rookie mistake — you don’t keep it on you, Lydia. Second, after all her master manipulating, she should know better than that! Either way, he kicks her out of the hotel room, but leaves just enough time for Lydia to grab the copy of the photo with pre-Emily Thorne Amanda Clarke. Conrad was too busy receiving a text from Emily saying that she need to talk to him ASAP to notice.
So what does Emily need to talk to Conrad about? Getting Victoria to attend the wedding of course. And because this is Emily Thorne we’re talking about, she knows just how to do it: Patrick. Turns out, she’s right because when Victoria eventually sees Patrick standing in her room all is forgiven and she agrees to go. With Patrick as her date of course. As usual, their relationship seems super inappropriate.
Elsewhere, Emily is putting the finishing touches of her plan with her Revengers in crime. Her, Nolan, and Aiden go through the rundown of what has to happen to make sure everything goes smoothly. Before the plan commences however, she has to say some goodbyes. First up, is Jack. The two share a sweet and emotional moment which she obviously chooes to ruin by dropping a bomb on Jack. She tells him that she was with Amanda when she died. She apologizes to Jack again and hopes that someday he’ll be able to understand why she had to do all of this.
But back to the wedding. Before she started getting ready, Lydia drops by and shows Emily the photograph. The two work out an agreement that Lydia won’t show the picture to anyone as long as she gets her house back. Emily agrees without hesitation because, well, she isn’t gonna need it when she’s soaking up some rays with her other new hubby in the Maldives.
Emily is later visited by yet another guest: Charlotte. She comes in and Emily makes sure to tell her that she loves her — and she seems sincere. Moments later Aiden walks in to go over some last minute things and slides her garter up her leg Nothing like a romantic moment with your real man before going off to marry another!
At the wedding, Aiden is able to stop Lydia from entering the church and ruining anything, but he is unfortunately not able to stop Daniel from getting wasted. He’s coherent enough to say his vows to Emily, and she returns the favor reciting hers. She’s basically describing the way her plan came to be (as an emotional montage of her father’s arrest plays in the background) and it ends up being one of her most honest moments with him. Unfortunately, the honesty does’t continue being that Daniel sneaks away to make a phone call to none other than Sarah. Classy.
At some point during the ceremony, after speaking breifly with Margot, Conrad sneaks back to the hotel and pays Lydia a visit. He tells her he has one simple question: Does she love him? She tells him she does and he decides that it’s time for the two of them to shake things up in the Hamptons. After glancing at the photo with Emily in it — she wholeheartedly agrees. Cut to the two of them showing up at the Graysons just in time to board the yacht.
On the boat, Emily shows everyone the montage that she made as a surprise highlighting some of their biggest moments over the years. As the Graysons look on, Emily trips and spills some of her drink on Victoria and part one of her plan officially commences. With Victoria down below, Emily makes her way to the bow of the boat to get herself ready. Part two of the plan involved Aiden looking Victoria down below, leaving her without an alibi for when Emily gets shot overboard. Unfortunately, Aiden soon realizes that Victoria isn’t alone down there. Lydia followed her down there and shows Victoria the photo.
Back on the deck, Emily turns around to find Victoria standing behind her. She quickly recovers from her shock when Victoria begins to calls her out on everything. She says she knows she’s been tactically trying to get into her family for years and that the pregnancy was a trap for Daniel. Before she can finish Aiden smothers her chloroform and Victoria passes out. He places the gun on a chair and tells Emily to wait 10 minutes and then fire. Fortunately, the part of the plan with Victoria is still a go. Unfortunately, Daniel heard everything.
Daniel is not in good shape. He’s drunk and just found out that Sarah allegedly tried to kill herself. He yells at Emily, and realizes that she’s basically been playing her since day one. Then, he notices the gun on the chair. He asks if she was going to try and shoot him and before Emily can react, he fires two shots into Emily’s chest and she falls overboard. Casually, he goes back below the deck and moments later you hear the captain yelling that someone went overboard. They all go to the deck and see the blood and a piece of Emily’s dress on the railing. Where’s Emily? Charlotte asks. Where’s Victoria? Conrad counters. And then the episode was cut off due to a Breaking News alert here in New Jersey.
When it came back on, Jack and Aiden were running on the beach looking for Emily when they saw what looked like someone in a wedding gown wash up on the shore. Fortunately, it was the wedding gown. Unfortunately, Emily wasn’t in it. And that’s where we’re at until Revenge returns in January.
Some leftovers: Were you shocked that Daniel was the one to pull the trigger? What do you think Victoria will do with the evidence Lydia showed her? Will Jack ever forgive Emily? What did I miss due to a Breaking News alert?
