revengeunion

Revenge was back with an explosive episode, “Union” that left one dead, and assured us that the death toll will be climbing shortly.  So, let’s dig in.

The episode started with Emily having a flashback of her marrying Jack when they were kids. Back then she thought the wedding of Jack Porter and Amanda Clarke would be happening ,and it turns out it did — she just wasn’t the bride.

Aiden on the other hand was still reeling from the information that his sister was killed a few days ago. So, to try and find out more about it, he enlisted Nolan’s help to try and find out more information about it. They ended up finding out a pretty significant piece of information: the video in question was from six years ago. Helen Crowley lied. Shocking, I know. He decided then and there that he was going to track them down and kill them one by one. Emily told him just because he couldn’t save her, doesn’t mean he couldn’t still honor her memory. He said he’s not like Emily and he can’t just flip a switch and turn off his feelings. Harsh, but true. Aiden -1 Emily – 0.

Also getting some points up on the board was fake Amanda. Amid all of the wedding planning the news slipped out that Conrad is involved with the ‘saving’ of The Stowaway. Clearly, Emily isn’t happy about this and decides to write a check instead. She convinces Jack to try and return the check to Conrad to try and buy the bar back, but unfortunately the deal has changed a bit. It is a deal with the Graysons after all. Nate Ryan is involved and if things go their way, The Stowaway will be no more. Amanda isn’t having it, and goes into Emily’s super-secret Revenge stash and brings out all the footage of Conrad and his shadiness to Mr. Grayson himself. Bold move Amanda, but consider the target on your back big and bright.

Someone else with a target on their back? Daniel. Victoria overheard a conversation with him and Helen Crowley and realizes that history is about to repeat itself. Crowley is going to have Daniel make moves that will inevitably serve him the same fate as David Clarke. Obviously Victoria isn’t having that and demands Conrad to find transactions of their history with The Initiative. This plan works and gets Daniel to realize that he may be in trouble. Victoria tells him to play along like he doesn’t know The Initiative’s true plans for him, and that she has evidence that could eliminate Crowley and The Initiative as problems. But even after everything nobody realizes that every office in the Hamptons is bugged, so Helen hears everything. Talk outside people!

Like Padma for example. They should really take notes. You see, Nolan decided to confront Padma about their current situation, something Emily warned Nolan not to do. Padma explains how her dad is MIA and The Initiative are involved. The result was them enlisting her to get close to Nolan, and then get the program from him. She’s just not sure why. Whether or not Nolan really believes her is yet to be determined, but she did deliver the classic line that despite all the lying and betraying: her feelings for him are real. Im not so convinced.

Cut to a relationship that is working out well — aside from the fact that the woman he is marrying isn’t actually who he thinks she is — Jack and Amanda are exchanging vows on the beach. So romantic. I know Emily and Amanda are like super close, but having her be there to witness the life she wanted for herself come true for someone else is just mean. Clearly, Em agrees with me because the girl could barely hold it together. She put up a brave face though and did right by Amanda, giving Jack the pipe cleaner ring they exchanged when they were younger. My heart swelled and broke at the same time. It’s fine.

So back to that evidence Victoria has. Helen is not too pleased with this and shows up at Victorias home and threatens to have Daniel killed with one simple phone call if she doesn’t turn it over. Victoria leads her to the pool house explaining that it’s locked in the safe. The safe is empty. The gun Victoria is now holding, is locked and loaded. Clearly this isn’t Victoria’s first rodeo. Helen doesn’t think Victoria is capable of murder. My opinion: when it comes to her son, there isn’t anything she won’t do. Point proven when  the trigger is pulled and Crowley is on the floor, dead. Then, because even after killing an actual human being Victoria is still on her A-game, she calls Daniel and guides him through a conversation that to the always-eavesdropping Initiative sounds like things went right with Helen. That Victoria, she’s always such a quick thinker! However, the fact that she has Daniel come and witness a dead body on the floor makes me question that just a bit. Yes, she may have just saved his life, but she also made him an accomplice to murder. So, I guess he can pick his poison.

The episode ended with Jack and Amanda literally sailing off into the sunset. But, because this is Revenge, we know there are no happily ever afters here. As Declan tries to call into the boat with a babysitting question about Carl, the world’s cutest baby, the connection is cut by none other than Nate Ryan who is creepily lurking below. So, will “to death do us part” be put to the test? We have to wait to find out last week.

Some leftovers: Who do you think is the body they find in the ocean? Were you shocked Victoria actually pulled the trigger? Did you heart break at Emily’s face during the wedding? What do you think Helen’s death means for The Initiative?
