On last night’s Revenge we learned why David Clarke decided to re-emerge and how some of our favorites in the Hamptons are dealing with his return. Let’s dig in!

In the episode,  David Clarke paid a visit to Amanda Clarke’s grave with Victoria by his side. This obviously sent Emily into a tailspin and made her urge to reconnect with her father even stronger. But Nolan, who is always looking out, is encouraging Emily to slow down. She’s spent three years carefully deciding every move, and is throwing it all out the window, but Emily doesn’t care. For those same three years all she ever wanted was to see her father again..and now she can. There’s only one obstacle: Victoria. So Emily goes to the next best worst thing, Charlotte.

But as we’ve seen this season, Charlotte is not in a great place or a great person. She proves that she is becoming more and more like a Grayson (even though she’s making sure people know she’s a Clarke) with each and ever ymove and manipulation she makes. For starters, she brings David to meet his grandchild. The only problem? Jack wasn’t sure how he wanted to handle that entire situation since as we know, the child isn’t really Amanda’s. During the visit, Charlotte also makes it a point to show David their wedding album, and while he recognized Jack the minute he answered the door, you can’t really tell if he believes that the woman hugging Jack on the beach is his daughter.

David isn’t the only one questioning someone’s true intentions. Jack’s partner Ben is as well and who is he suspecting isn’t telling te truth? Jack. After Jack went on a bit of a rant about Conrad getting what he deserved, or as he likes to call it, justice, Ben realizes that Conrad’s murder was never truly investigated. So Jack has officially become his number one suspect. Ultimately he realizes that Jack has an alibi, but is still convinced there is more to Conrad’s murder than meets the eye.

But now back to Charlotte. Emily decides to try and pull the sister card and Charlotte is understandably not having it. Emily urges her to see that her mother is just manipulating her: that the two of them owe it to Amanda to tell the truth and how that is all she’s trying to do. So after waiting anxiously in the lobby, Em finally gets a text from Charlotte telling her to come up to the room. After a few deep breaths she knocks on the door,  but it’s not her father on the other side. It’s Victoria. Victoria asks Emily the question that we’ve all been asking ourselves since we learned David is alive: what makes her think he’ll be able to forgive her after all that she’s done?

Luckily for Emily, Nolan gets the answer to that question. After a surprise visit from David himself, he gets the confirmation that David misses Amanda; he just wants to feel a connection to her again. Everyone is telling him so many things, that he just doesn’t know what to believe. So Emily takes this information as her cute. With her Vengeance Cap back on, she devises a plan with none other than her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend. So what are Daniel and Margot up to?

Well, with Louise still literally dangling her assets in front of him, Daniel proves that even though he and Margot make a strong team, the power of Louise’s cleavage is even stronger. He cheats on Margot with Louise, but soon after decides that he can’t do this and tells her he’s doing her a favor. She wouldn’t want to be a part of his family. Silly, Daniel! That’s exactly what she wants which is precisely why she agrees to stay business partners with him. So as Daniel thinks everything is fine, Louise punches an elevator wall repeatedly and then calls in a story to Page Six about none other than a Mr. Daniel Grayson.

Margot is unaware of this interaction, but that’s because she’s making an interaction of her own. After trying to make Victoria pay the debt she owes her in the form of an exclusive interview with David Clarke, it’s ultimately Emily who makes that a reality. So how does she do it? She gets them to gift David with the deed to his old house with Emily: the beach house. It’s delivered to Daniel in person with an apology for what his family did to him. In turn however, Margot gets his first on camera interview. With David back in the house he starts to feel like his old self again. He starts to feel Amanda. And as it turns out, their connection is pretty strong. David is determined to find out the truth; he is ready for his own revenge. Looks like the apple once again didn’t fall too far from the tree.

The episode ended with Charlotte making yet another bad decision. After stumbling out of a club, she slides into the back seat of a cab with a that we don’t recognize aside for one thing: a crescent moon tattoo on his hand.  So who is the man with the crescent tattoo? It’s not the name to a killer sequel to another film, but it does belong to a killer..well, at least an attempted one. It’s the same tattoo that the man who tried to hit David Clarke with his car earlier in the episode had. Here’s to another one of Charlotte’s great decisions!

Some leftovers: Who do you think is the man with the crescent moon tattoo? Do you think Ben is going to uncover the truth about Conrad’s murder? When do you think Emily will finally meet David? What do you think will happen when they do?
