On last night’s Revenge, we learned that Emily and David share a lot more than just DNA. They both have mastered the art of a plot twist when you least expect it. Let’s dig in.

The episode opened with Charlotte waking up from her drug-induced haze to realize that she is once again bait for someone’s hidden agenda. Yup, the man she went home with from the bar is using her to get to David Clarke, but why? Charlotte doesn’t have time to figure it out before the two start to fight as she struggles to get free. After doing some spider monkey like move up the wall, she body slams the guy onto the floor where he hits it at just the right angle that he snaps his neck. With him dead on the floor, Charlotte starts rummaging through his stuff to find her own when she finds her cellphone along with a file marked David Clarke. With the file in her hands, she makes a call for help. Only when there’s a knock on the door, it’s not the police on the other end, it’s Emily.

Cops may not be at the door, but there are a bunch getting the news broke to them that one of their own recently passed away. Of course because Ben is still trying to be the little detective that could, he looks into this case and finds that the timing of things is too big to be a coincidence. He believes that this guy could have a hand in the murder of Conrad Grayson. Jack however isn’t buying it, especially after one of the other officers lets Jack in on the fact that just a week ago, Ben was eyeing him as the prime suspect. No loyalty. However, Jack quickly changes his tune when upon snooping around the dead officer’s garage he sees a cot with a symbol scratched into it. Any guesses as to what symbol it was?

Back over at Charlotte’s booty-call-gone-wrong’s apartment, Emily hands over a pair of Black gloves and the two get to work. After seeing hte photos, she tells Charlotte how the manwas probably just another conspiracy theorist, but we as viewers can see that Emily thinks it’s something more. As they are staging the crime scene, Charlotte can’t believe the ease of which Emily is handling the whole situation, but basically chalks it up to the fact that Emily must be used to being around people she killed. Emily tells Charlotte that she’s never killed anyone before, then because Charlotte is a great human being, she brings up Aiden. Emily is quick to tell her that she wasn’t the one to kill Aiden, it was her mother. Subtle.

Elsewhere, David is till prepping for his on-screen debut. He’s ready to share his story with the world, and he wants Nolan there by his side. Emily isn’t all that thrilled with Nolan being there because she thinks there is more to David’s story than he’s letting on. She can’t prove it, but it’s just a gut instinct. Nolan says that just because she’s afraid to re-connect with David doesn’t mean he has to be. But as we find out later, maybe he should have been just a little afraid.

Victoria on the other hand, is doing everything possible to try and regain some control of the situation, and let’s face it, David in general. She goes to Margot to try and give her pre-approved questions for the interview, but Margot ain’t having it. To make matters worse, Victoria realizes that Louise is working with Daniel, and has had enough of young, beautiful, rich women manipulating her son. She goes to Daniel to tell him so, and comes clean(ish) about her stay in the psychiatric facility and how Louise was her roommate. This is enough to make Daniel officially wary of Louise, a worry that is only deepened when he stops by to see Margot and she’s playing tennis against none other than Louise herself. Naturally, Louise is good at tennis because to her love means nothing. Being a stalker however, is apparently everything.

Back over at the beach house, it’s show time! David sits down for the interview and as it starts, he tells the world he wants someone he loves to be by his side, Nolan Ross. Victoria is unable to hide her shock as Nolan walks smugly to the couch. Just when you think the two are going to have this beautiful reunion, David flips the script and tells the world that Nolan stole all the money from Amanda Clarke and that he will never forgive him. When the interviewer gives Nolan a chance to share his side, Nolan takes off the mic and with tears in his eyes walks out the room. He’s later visited by David again, and David wants to know what happened with the money if Nolan didn’t steal it. Of course because Nolan’s allegiance is always to Emily, he says nothing and ultimately gets punched in the mouth. Emily returns to the house just as her father leaves and asks what happened. Nolan’s response? Her lies finally caught up to him.

Speaking of lies finally catching up to someone, Charlotte tells her mother that she is going to rehab. And while Victoria has never been more proud, Charlotte makes sure to tell her that she’s going partially to get away from her. Before she gets to rehab though, Charlotte makes a pit-stop at Daniel’s and the two have a sweet sibling moment about always being honest with each other. And with that statement, Charlotte realizes there is one more thing she needs to tell him, and it has to do with Emily. Victoria on the other hand, may have a new residence of her own: the beach house with David.

The episode ends with Emily realizing her gut instinct was proven right. First up, the photos that Emily found in the folder from Charlotte’s boy toy show David walking around in public during a time when he was allegedly being held captive by Conrad. So, as David was sharing his story with the world, Emily was investigating the place where David was being held and tortured all that time. Her realization? David made it all up and went through great lengths to make it believable. And then we are all left wondering the same thing: why?

Some leftovers: Were you shocked that Nolan didn’t just tell David what was really going on? What do you think Daniel is going to do with his newly learned information about Emily? Do you think Louise is going to do something to Margot? Why do you think David was lying this whole time?
