The latest episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ dealt a lot with betrayal. Shocking, right? In a world filled with Vampires, Witches, and humans all trying to get along, it’s sure to bring the drama and in ‘All My Children’ the plot didn’t disappoint. So, let’s dig in.

The episode started with Elena calling her Salvatore brothers and basically getting ignored by both of ‘em. Stefan just kept writing in his little diary, and Damon answered nice ‘n’ rude after his romp in the sack with Rebekah the night before. Yep, we saw that coming. The rudeness could have also had a little bit to do with the fact that Elena didn’t say I love you back, but we’ll let that slide, right? No? Yeah I won’t either. And neither does Elena when she shows up at the house and gets greeted by Rebekah embarking on her walk of shame. Awkward. Oh, and did I forget to mention Stefan has kicked the habit of drinking human blood. Is the Stefan we love back? Time will tell.

Believe it or not, there are other vampires in Mystic Falls. You remember who they are, The Originals? The ones whose mother is attempting to kill them? Yes, them. Esther had enlisted the help of Bonnie and her mama to help carry her plan through. Fin is also in on the plan and is going to take one for the team. Ah, the love of a family. Someone who is not feeling the love though is Elijah who realized that Elena was withholding some information, and traps her underground with Rebekah. Yeah probably not the best company. But smart if you need the Salvatore brothers to get things done for you.

Elijah tells the Salvatore’s that they have until 9:06 that night to stop the Bennett duo from helping Esther’s plan be carried out. so, basically Stefan and Damon must make a choice. One of them will have to kill either Bonnie or her mother and ultimately risk losing Elena forever.

Of course, they aren’t ones to not have a Plan B and after temporarily daggering Kol (because since they are all connected, they would all die) that plan is ruined by Klaus. They almost got away with it though because Klaus was too busy spitting game at Caroline. And I can’t say that I blame him. In either regard, Damon ends up being the one to snap Bonnie’s mom’s neck and turns her into, yep, a vampire. He does this even though he lost the coin toss. See! He still loves Elena! But as he so rightly puts it, she didn’t want him. And he’s better at being the bad guy anyway. That he is, and it’s partially why we love ‘em. That whole sexy and brooding thing definitely doesn’t hurt either.

At the end, the spell isn’t able to be completed and Elijah leaves Elena a little apologetic love note. Seriously, in another life those two could have been so cute together. You know, if Damon and Stefan were out of the picture. What’s not so cute, is while Rebekah was chasing Elena through the tunnels, she caught some video footage that is a real game changer: after they burtn down the original oak tree, someone may have planted another. Uh-oh! Safe to say those two sibs are on a mission to find it.

Oh, and just to end with a bang, Alaric totally got shot by Dr. Fell. After taking the majority of the beating when Stefan and Damon’s Plan B failed, he groggily woke up on Meredith’s couch and began snooping around at some files and weapons on her counter and then bang, a shot goes off. To the best of our knowledge she isn’t supernatural so, I don’t think that ring is gonna be super helpful. Sigh. Why does this feel like deja vu? Physco Nanny Carrie on One Tree Hill anyone?

What do you guys think the white oak tree means? Are you happy Stefan may be ‘good’ again? Will Bonnie ever forgive Elena?
