In last night’s episode of New Girl it officially confirmed that I would like to be a roommate in the loft. Not only is their chemistry as a group undeniable, last night’s ‘Injured’ just shows how much they have all come to care for one another. And gave us a lot of super sweet moments and even a kiss between two of our faves. So let’s dig in!

It all started with a little friendly game of touch football. Touch being the operative word. But Jess got a bit carried away and tackled Nick making him injure his fill-in-body-part-that-Schmidt-yelled-here. Hobbling to his car like a Disney witch, he tried to drive and hit Winston’s car. Or fixed it. That part is up for debate.

So, Jess brings Nick to her doctor friend who happens to be an OBGYN. Totally fine. During his examination she noticed a growth on his thyroid, but since Nick doesn’t have health insurance a.k.a. why he was at an OBGYN in the first place, he refuses an ultrasound. Jess urges him to reconsider and gets the help of Schmidt and Winston to try and get to ‘em.

While bartending, the three sit and stare at Nick longingly. They are seriously upset. How upset you ask? Enough for Schmidt to lay one on Nick. I love the beginnings of bromances. Then, thanks to apps like Web MD, the diagnosing begins. They all begin to cry because they got the ultimate diagnosis: death.

Jess tries to lighten the mood with a joke. Shocking ,right? This makes Nick tell her she can’t speak at his funeral because she’s never ‘real’. Ouch. Cut to a few minutes, and a lot of alcohol later, we get some fake Eulogies through the art of rapping. Seriously, the rhymes were fresh. CeCe just can’t believe she’s sober and witnessing all of this. You and me both CeCe.

Then, Jess tells Nick that he never does anything. Well, that’s one way to be real. This prompts them to make Nick do something without overanalyzing it. The idea? Jump naked into the ocean. Cue Nick running into freezing water in his birthday suit. It leaves Nick cold, freaked out and finally admitting: he could have cancer.

This is where things got cute. When Jess went to console him, Nick in his drunk and drugged up state admitted he likes her a lot and is glad she’s around. Yay! But, he does acknowledge that he probably won’t remember  this in the morning. Not a problem though, us fans clearly won’t forget.

While this is going on, Schmidt and CeCe have their own tender moment. Admitting he doesn’t know how to handle this kind of situation, CeCe told him how her father died when she was 12. Pretty heavy stuff for something that’s just physical, right? He then tries to compare that loss, to the loss of his cat. Totally the same thing Schmidt, totally.

They wake up on the beach, late for his appointment, where Nick ultimately learns he’s fine. Give me a moment while I do my happy dance. He then has to figure out the whole payment thing. It ended up being taken care of. Jess, Schmidt, Winston and CeCe split it. Now if that ain’t friendship I don’t know what is. They leave the office, and ultimately Winston’s car behind because let’s face it, soot was coming out of the floor of it earlier. But not before Nick asks Jess what happened last night. Jess says nothing, but we all know better, right?

So, do we feel love in the air for Jess and Nick? Do you think CeCe and Schmidt will become anything more?
