Revenge is back! Last kicked off the season 2 and man, did we hit the ground running. The episode started similar to last years. It gave us an event and then will ultimately spend the season bringing us back to that point. The event? An underwater wreck that you first assume was the plane that exploded, but it turns out to be a boat. What boat do you ask? Jack’s boat The Amanda. Not. Good. Let’s dig in.
Take it back three months, and we find Emily tied to a post underwater in Japan. Takeda was looking on along with a man, Aidan. While submerged you got flashbacks of a young Emily visiting her mother in a mental institution. Unfortunately, she took it a step too far and Aidan rescued her from the water. Too bad she didn’t want to be rescued because she felt she was finally recovering the memories. Clearly this caused some tension between the two, but it felt a bit like sexual tension to me. Anyone else?
This sets Emily off and back on her course of Revenge. Her first stop is to find her trusty sidekick Nolan who is rocking a new haircut and some boxing gloves. Getting attacked by a White Haired Man will definitely do that to a guy. It’s decided that they are going back to the Hamptons and after putting together what she learned from her new-found memories, Emily and Nolan are off to Angel of Mercy Hospital. The place where Emily’s mother was ultimately committed.
While there Emily realizes two things. One, that infamous infinity symbol was scratched into the binds that strapped her mother down, and two, Victoria was the one who got her committed. This leads Emily to seek out Charlotte, who is 60 days sober at a rehab facility.Unfortunately, Emily’s timing is off and Charlotte can’t talk much, but invites her to the memorial service for the deceased Victoria.
Of course the memorial is on Memorial Day, the same day Emily and Daniel met exactly a year ago. Safe to say, this will be awkward. Emily shows up and sees Ashley and who is she with? Daniel. Like I said, awkward. To make things even more interesting, Ashley is in charge of giving the ‘tribute’ to Victoria, which Charlotte takes offense to. You know, because it’s her mother and all. After a moving speech, and declaring she’s back on track, she receives her blood results from sponsor. They’re positive. Charlotte is adamant that she’s clean, and kind of loses it. During her rant she yells that her father not only has something to do with the tampered results (he does) but for the plane crash that killed Victoria (he did). As they are escorting her out she breaks free and whispers something into Emily’s ear.
While all this is going down, Jack has been spending time on his boat at night instead of sleeping with fake Amanda. Declan calls him out on it multiple times, his reasoning: he’s not in love with her. That Declan, he’s a smart kid. But it turns out he may be right, because he showed up at Emily’s apologizing for how things went down between them. Emily took this as her cue to ask the question we’ve all been wondering: Is he really the father? Clearly Jack already had some doubts because he asked fake Amanda the same thing. Safe to say, she is not happy.
Someone else who isn’t happy, Victoria, because surprise! she’s alive and Emily Thorne is at her door. Gotta love secrets between sisters. Victoria is being hidden by the government until a case can be made against Conrad. Emily doesn’t believe this for a second and ultimately puts yet another one of her famous hidden cameras in her room. Introducing, the clam cam. Turns out that was a smart move seeing as when she’s watching the footage later Victoria is working with none other than the White Haired Man. The next target? Emily. And she wants it no other way.
Some leftovers: Did you think Victoria was alive? Were you shocked her and the White Haired Man were working together? Do you think Jack is really the father? What do you think this means for Charlotte?
