The latest episode of Revenge as titled Penance. It was all about Mason Treadwell trying to figure out the connection between Emily and Amanda, and the complications that came as a result of this. Complications like someone ending up in jail. So let’s dig in.

The episode started with Mason showing up at Emily’s house trying to expose the truth between her and Amanda. The only problem is that Mason’s truth was saying they’re lovers. Not true. However, Mason clearly isn’t giving up that easy. So, he called Amanda and told her  that he knows the truth. Of course since Emily doesn’t tell anyone her plans ever, Amanda thinks he’s serious and runs to Emily telling her that she’s going to handle this her way now. She’s engaged to Jack now (that’s one way to drop that bomb on Emily) and won’t let him hurt her family. Emily, being the expert in this matter, tells her that if she does what she’s thinking she’s going to be the one who hurts her family. True that.

Elsewhere, Aidan is following through on his orders from Emily (lady is so bossy, no?) and is trying to get everything ready for him and Daniel to take over the company. The first step? Getting the proof that David Clarke did invest in NolCorp. The only problem is that this could mean Nolan will lose everything, but of course he’ll do it. It’s for Emz after all. So, at the Grayson’s annual luncheon, Daniel enlists Ashley to distract Conrad so he can have a secret meeting with his investors and see if they’ll back him when he blows the lid off Grayson Global. One of the members involved, a lady from The Initiative. However, this meeting isn’t so secret after all. Victoria walks in and hears his plan. But this isn’t stopping Daniel. He refuses to be a hypocrite like this mother.

While all this is going down at the Graysons, Mason decides to show up at The Stowaway to try and talk to Amanda again. She says she’ll explain everything over at his place. At Mason’s she sees his handy work and all his research. She spins a story that Emily is obsessed with her, and then she literally takes matters into her own hands. She’s about to slam a bar into Mason’s head when Emily comes running through the door and saves the day. Mason looks utterly and completely confused, so Emily decides to clear things up for him. She tells him he was so close to figuring it out but he missed one thing. Amanda isn’t really Amanda clarke..she is. Okay, so maybe he was still a little confused.

Now, if you’re like me you’re thinking how can this be revealed already? And to Mason Treadwell no less. But this is Emily we’re talking about. Girl always has a plan. She tells Mason how everythign she’s done, and everything she’s become, is because he chose not to tell the truth in his book. She trusted him, and he let her down. However, luckily for Emily, the time for him to re-pay her is now. She got a phone call telling her that her mother who she thought was leaving for Coloardo Springs, actually just rented a car. So she has Mason call Kara and tell her he had more information regarding her husbands death, and off they went.

Mason gave Kara the pocketwatch that Emily had in her possession and is doing as he’s told via earpiece. But then he goes off-script. He starts telling Kara the role the Graysons played in David Clarke’s death and Emily is panicing warning that she’s off her meds and can’t handle this kind of information. Kara runs off and Emily is furious. Turns out she had a  right to be. Back at the Graysons’ Victoria is about to warn Conrad what Daniel is up to when they are interrupted by none other than Kara with a gun. Not a good combination. Conrad starts telling her that Gordon Murphy was responsible for David’s death and to make Kara believe them Victoria tells her to look in the liner of her jewelery box. Kara finds the other half to that picture she saw last episode and sees Gordon. Kara doesn’t know what to believe and forces them to blindfold themselves and drop to their knees. Conrad grabs Victoria’s hand and gives her an apology. It’s a good thing they re-did their vows, ” ’till death to us part” may come sooner than they thought.

Luckily Emily got in touch with Aidan, and he burst into the Grayson’s room just in time and makes Kara inhale something. She awakes in Emily’s car where her and Aidan make sure she is on her way safely. Aidan made it clear this episode that he’s doing all of this because he hurt Emily once before. He clearly doesn’t want to do it again. It would seem he’s doing it all for nothing, but this episode he got something in return. After a long day at the office, and by office I mean sabotaging more people’s lives, Emily returns home to find him waiting on her porch and the two have a nice steamy make-out session. Can’t say I didn’t see that coming.

So whose life did she sabotage this time? Well we find Mason in an interrogation room, so I think it’s safe to say it was his. Here’s what happened.  You see, while Mason was talking to Kara, Em’s trusty sidekick Nolan was re-arranging Mason’s board to make it look like he was Conrad’s accomplice in the murder of Gordon Murphy. Cut back to the interrogation room, Emily tells Mason that she’ll make a deal with him. He has to plead guilty to the charges and go to jail. Doesn’t seem all that fair, right? Well, here’s the selling point. If he does this, Emily will have the one piece of informatoin that will exonerate him, her confession. All he has to do is wait for her plan to be complete and then he’s free. Free from behind bars, and free to write the story he’s been wanting to write all along: the truth. Mason accepted the deal.

Some leftovers: Do you think Kara is gone for good? Did you believe Conrad’s apology? Were you shocked Mason accepted the deal? Do you think Emily still has feelings for Aidan, or it’s just a comfort thing?
