The latest episode of Revenge was called Illusion, which is perfectly fitting since with this show, things aren’t always as they seem. It’s safe to say this episode was no exception, so lets dig in!

The episode revolved primarily around a wedding. Conrad and Victoria’s second attempt at ’til death do us part. Words that they have taken way to literally within these two seasons. Nonetheless they decide to go forward with their ceremony, and the drama was definitely on the guest. Daniel wanted to make sure that Nolan attended so that he could do some more research as to why someone from NolCorp  was looking into David Clarke. Luckily for him, he not only went, but brought Padma as his date just to further complicate the whole thing. But Nolan isn’t being played for a fool any longer. He confronts Padma and wants to know if she’s willing to protect them? It’s a question I’m still not sure of myself.

While the Hampton’s elite are all at the ceremony, Kara is snooping around Victoria’s room. With the amount of money these people have you would think they’d invest in a better security system. She goes into Victoria’s jewelery box and finds a picture torn in half of David. What’s was on the other side? Kara seemed to have known. I think people are really underestimating Kara. Earlier in the episode she was on the beach, and Emily, who just can’t seem to stay away, had a nice little conversation. The end result being something that the real Clarke women seem to have in common: faith that the Graysons’ will get what’s coming to them. Of course Emily is just a little more invested in making that happen. At least for now.

Back at the reception,  Emily and Aidan are causing quite the stir. It doesn’t help that Daniel is stealing longing glances in her direction, jealous that Aidan is there with her. Obviously Emily wouldn’t miss a chance to wreak havoc at the Graysons for the world, but Aidan promised to give her the gun he used to kill Gord Murphy if she’d be his date. Of course Emily said yes, but obviously she had alterior motives.  So, what motives would that be?

Well, prior to the wedding, Emily and Amanda figured out a way to make Mason believe that Amanda got her scar removed. But he is still too close on their trail, so Emily decides to try and lead him elsewhere.  Of course this direction was towards the Graysons. She had Amanda drop just enough information alluding that Conrad had a grudge against Gordon Murphy, and because Mason is always so eager..he took the bait. Cue Mason showing up at Murphy’s trailer to find him dead and a cufflink with the intitals CG.

Cut back to the wedding, Aidan is dancing with Ashley and Daniel is dancing with Emily. Aidan makes it clear to Em that she should rethink what Ashley’s motives are in all of this. Fair enough. He also voices his opinions about Daniel to which Emily explains that he’s a casualty in all this too. Cue  Daniel whisking Emily around the dance floor and apologizing for what went wrong between them. He tells her she was right about it all, and that he’s basically still in love with her.  Emily told him he could still change the direction of his life. That response seemed a little genuine if you ask me, but then, because that was just too sweet of a moment, the police bust in and arrest Conrad for the murder of Gordon Murphy.

Back at the Stowaway, this news is broken to a full house. A full house that included, Amanda who is newly engaged to Jack (Yep, that happened), Charlotte – -the wedding was just not a charade she wanted to be a part of, and Kara Clarke. Clearly both Charlotte and Kara are the most moved by the news. This leads to a moment between Declan and Charlotte who wanted to make sure she was okay, and Kara confronting Victoria. These two women should just always have scenes togther. Two completely different kinds of crazy, but crazy good nonetheless. Their conversation shakes Victoria to the core, so much so that when she hears some noises in the middle of the night she takes out her wedding present from Conrad. A gun. Ah, so romantical. Luckily for her, it’s only Conrad. Unluckily for her, hes out of jail because he made yet another deal with The Initiative. And we all know how well that ended u,p right?  Only the whole premise of this show.

Of course not one to stay away from the scoop, Mason shows up at Victorias’. Luckily for him, everyone thinks Victoria was in on this somehow. Daniel included.  It doesn’t hurt that while at the wedding Vic complimented Daniel on the job he was doing and said he’d be the perfect successor. Weird timing, yes, but she swears she had nothing to do with it. Well played by Emily, and lets face it — not really a long shot that Vic would have done it. Amid their discussion, Victoria let’s a crazy important piece of information slip to Mason: Emily Thorne was a juvy girl too.

Cut to the end of the episode, when you see a red string, not to be outshone by the red sharpie, basically playing connect the dots with the people and events that have gone down in the Hamptons. The final connection drags a line from Emily’s face straight to Amanda’s. Then as the camera peels back you see the person doing the connecting, Mason Treadwell. Did you expect anything less?

Some leftovers: Were you shocked that Jack asked Amanda to marry him (or that she said yes)? What do you think Conrad’s new deal with The Initiative was? Do you think it’s a mistake for Emily to keep seeking out Kara? Do we trust Padma?
