RevengeImpetus

On last night’s episode of Revenge, Emily reached an end result she’s been working for since the series premiere. So did the Graysons finally meet their fate? Let’s dig in!

Turns out, that the people who kidnapped Charlotte was in fact Emily and of course by that I mean Aiden. Blindfolded and handcuffed to a chair, they place a newspaper with the death of Pascal as the headline and call Conrad. Using Nolan’s trusty new voice distortion software Emily tells him that he’s destroyed the lives of all those affected by Flight 197 and now it’s time for him to serve the same fate..unless he confesses. Just as this is happening, Nolan walks in and is quickly brought up to speed on the recent developments. It’s safe to say he is shocked that Emily went to this extreme, but she assures him she would never hurt Charlotte. If he doesn’t trust her, he can walk out the door. But this new phase of her plan isn’t ending until the Graysons are behind bars.

As if his voice distortion program wasn’t enough, they also now have a call interceptor program and find out where Conrad is headed. They’re able to drop a video of Conrad being beaten and a box with a gift for him to unwrap: of Charlotte’s ear. This is enough to kick Conrad into gear. Little does he know it’s just Javier’s app that Nolan was able to manipulate and make him think Charlotte was really in trouble.

Back over at Voulez, Margot is meeting with a detective about her father’s death. Although both Conrad  and the pilot said it was an accident, Margot believes otherwise. Turns out, so does the detective. Their biggest piece of evidence? They learned that Pascal was wearing a wire. So she ends up with  copy of the footage and is seemingly watching it on a loop when Daniel walks in. Daniel agrees that he thinks his father was involved in her father’s death so she shows him what she was able to find: a shot of a woman feeling the scene, but it’s from the back and she doesn’t recognize her. Daniel on the other hand would recognize that body anywhere: it belongs to his ex-wife. Unfortunately, he keeps that information to himself. At least for now.

Conrad on the other hand is ready to divulge some information of his own. He shows up at Grayson Manor but Victoria is still hellbent on what she knows he did to Pascal. He tells her that Charlotte is being held captive, but Victoria isn’t really buying it. Even when Conrad says he’s going to hold a press conference and admit to it all. You would think that would make Victoria pay attention,  but good ‘ol Victoria has plans of her own.

Back over at headquarters a.k.a. where Charlotte is being held captive, they’re playing all the footage of Flight 197 on a loop. Trying to make Charlotte snap out of it and wake up to what her parents really did. While this is happening Nolan asks Emily what she has planned for when her plan is over and she admits she has no idea: she doesn’t even know who Amanda Clarke is anymore. The moment is interrupted however by an unexpected visitor: Jack. He can’t believe what they’re up to, but again Emily promises that she’s not going to hurt her. She puts her money where her mouth is when Charlotte starts having a panic attack and offers to get her medicine. It’s there that we found out what Daniel did with that information — she runs right into the detective who wants to bring her into questioning.

Cut to the police station in the city, where the detective is trying to get some information out of her. He finds it suspicious that she is nowhere to be seen on any of the footage, and as he continues prying Emily is able to call Nolan so she can hear where she is. He hears just enough too as Daniel walks in and his motives become clear. Unfortunately, her record isn’t. So when the detective goes to run her prints, Emily knows she needs Nolan’s help and fast. Why? Because turns out there’s a partial print on the wire Pascal was wearing. Luckily for her, Aiden gets there in  a flash and tackles Daniel to the floor causing a commotion. Are you crying? Aiden asks Daniel. His response? No, I’m pressing charges. Such a bold and brave man! In the end though it all works out, as the fingerprints end up leading to a dead end. But something that looks like they have a future? Daniel and Margot. She realizes that in this business it’s common for people to sell their soul, but Daniel begs her not to do it. Why? she asks hm with his faces framing either side of her face: because he may need her to save him later.

Back over at HQ, Jack is left alone with Charlotte, but he’s also left to his own thoughts. Before he left, Aiden asked him what he was still doing in town, but he already knew the answer: he can’t let go of the girl he used to know. Team Jack rejoice! However, one thing he can let go of is Charlotte. He cuts her free and walks her along the beach and she walks back into Grayson manor just as Conrad is preparing to release his statement. Solo. But Charlotte isn’t naive Charlotte anymore! She comes at Conrad spitting back all the new information she’s learned about his involvement in Flight 197 to which Conrad calls her an ungrateful bastard. In his rage he not only shows what a terrible father he is, but a terrible human: he admits to his involvement in everything.  Too bad he was too angry to realize that Charlotte was wearing a camera on her jacket and he just admitted it all on live TV.

So after three seassons, Conrad Grayson finally ended up behind bars. Victoria on the other-hand is still free and she’s uncovering more and more about Emily by the minute. She’s also put a rush on DNA evidence; one of which belonged to Carl. Emily, not one to just sit back in her glory, shows up at the prison and that’s where Conrad realizes that she is behind all of this. After learning that she did it for David and Amanda Clarke, he knows that Victoria is next. So naturally he tells her Godspeed.

The episode ended with Emily and Aiden savoring the moment and realizing that revenge is finally hers. This moment however is interrupted by Jack who needs to talk to Emily. He finally tells her about the David Clarke stalker and the ring. Turns out, the ring does in fact belong to her father. So how does this man have it?

Some leftovers: were you happy that the writers finally went there? How do you think someone has David Clarke’s ring? Do you think Charlotte and Emily can ever have a relationship again? What will the evidence say?
