This episode of Revenge entitled ‘Absolution’ was really all about choices. Many characters were put in situations where the choices they made could ultimately determine their fate. Like say, coming clean and clearing David Clarke’s name forever. So were the right decisions made? Let’s dig in!

In a rare moment of family bonding, Emily decided to check up on her half-sister Charlotte. Clearly Emily’s intuition was right because later on in the episode Charlotte ends up getting suspended from school due to Declan having her locker searched to help her. But the moment wasn’t just about Charlotte. While sisterly bonding, Emily saw Charlotte was doing her own research about David Clarke. Among all the information was a photograph of her father in prison which she quickly snaps with her phone. Ah, the power of technology. But what she really notices is that her father is writing in a journal. A journal she doesn’t have.

This makes her call Nolan because it’s not in her infinity box and Nolan was the one who had it before her. He tells Emily that he doesn’t have anything, but because she’s such a smartypants she’s in his house catching him in the lie.

The journal it turns out is pretty important because of two simple letters: CM. After some research she learns that they belong to a deceased woman named Carole Miller, but decides to look further into it and it’s a good thing she does. The woman’s actual name is Carole Taylor and she’s alive. She also turns out to be Nolan’s aunt. Wait, what? Yep. Aunt Carole is a previous employe of Grayson Global, but don’t worry she was Team David Clark. So much so, that she was about to release the information that would have cleared David’s name, but he ended up being murdered that day. But by who?

Well, you see in this photograph there were pictures of some inmates and guards. According to reports, it was an inmate who stabbed David, but thanks to some more video footage Emily sees a man with white hair. The same man who Aunt Carole said she remembered seeing often at Grayson Global and on the day he died. And, who also happens to be in that photograph. So now we have the killer, we just need the name.

While all this is going down, Daniel is finally released from prison thanks to the forced suicide of Lee Moran. With the media frenzy from the ‘trial of the decade’ Emily suggests he do an interview. Ashley is all for it. Then again she’ll do anything to further her career. The only one who isn’t is surprise, surprise, Victoria.

Victoria has her own agenda. She’s managed to get herself immunity for some information she’s willingly given to get the feds on Conrad. Which does end up working seeing as the SEC ends up ransacking Grayson Global. The only problem is that the company isn’t in jeopardy because of Daniel.

You see, prior to his interview, Daniel got a visitor from Jack filling in some of the missing pieces about the night on the beach and telling him he owes it to Emily to be fully aware of the actions of his family. An example? How Lee Moran’s hoodie got in his car. The seed of doubt ultimately works because Daniel starts asking his father for the truth. And boy did he get it. Like the whole truth. Like what they did to David Clarke truth! Emily, who is obviously listening, takes this as a test. Daniel has a chance to set himself apart from his family, and set the record straight about her father. In theory then, they’d be able to live happily ever after. Unfortunately, when he’s on camera, he defends not only the company, but his father. Willingly supporting someone who openly told him about what he did to David Clark. I guess it’s true what they say like father like son.

So with this recent development Nolan, and lets face it, all of us, wanted to know what’s next? It turns out it’s pretty simple. She’s still going to marry Daniel, and she’s going to find the white haired man and then kill him.

Some leftovers: Were you shocked that Daniel didn’t do the right thing? Do you think Emily will go through with the wedding? Did Declan do the right thing?
